Biometric locks, which recognize fingerprints of the owners that protect the premises from unauthorized access, turned out not to be effective. For example, the famous “legend destroyers” Adam and Jamie could open a lock, using the copy of the fingerprint.

The American company Axxis tries to solve this problem using a biometric lock with multiple levels of protection. First, the lock does not only remember the fingerprint, but also requires the owner to enter a personal PIN-code. Secondly, it records, who, when and how many times opened (or tried to open) the lock. In addition, there is a possibility to restrict the time – for example, if you leave your house for rest and ask your neighbor to take care of flowers or a cat, he/she will be able to enter the house only at certain times.
The lock is wireless, manufacturers assure that you can install it instead of the lock, being armed only with a screwdriver. “Easy to install – easy to remove”, – I thought at once.
1000 fingerprints can be installed into the memory of the device. You can read or upgrade all the necessary information using a special 1-GB USB-flash. The set also includes an emergency set of keys. The price of the lock is 699 dollars and $299 you should pay for the required accessories.
