Mirrorless cameras have started gaining traction and popularity with more companies hopping aboard the mirrorless bandwagon. Sony was a bit late to the mirrorless camera game, releasing their NEX-3 and NEX-5 just last year. Despite that they are moving along pretty quickly and according to recent rumors, Sony may be unveiling the NEX-5N, NEX-7 and part of their DSLR series, the Alpha A77.

The unveiling is expected to occur at an event that is scheduled on the 24th of August. According to the rumors, new lenses are expected to be unveiled along with the three brand new cameras, and they are the Carl Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 fixed-length lens, a 55-210mm f/4-6.3 super zoom lens and a 50mm f/1.8 OSS (Optical Steady Shot) lens.

As far as the camera specifications are concerned, the NEX-7 is expected to target the more professional users who may require a smaller sized camera. It is also expected to be a rival for the Fujifilm X100. The Sony NEX-5N is said to be a refresh of the NEX-5 with a new sensor and a build that is somewhat similar to the NEX-C3. Unfortunately not much is known about the Alpha A77.

iPhone 4

December 24, 2010 | No Comments | Hi-tech Gadgets

Just when you thought that Apple and their incredible iPhone series could not get any more popular, 2010 comes along and the latest model the iPhone 4 smashes all of the records set by its predecessor, the 3GS. There are many things that the iPhone 4 has going for it; a fast processor, decent camera, state of the art software but one thing that really sets Apple’s latest offering out from the rest of its competition is its incredible design.

Apple takes this aspect of production very seriously and make sure that all of their products, from iPods to Mac Books look and feel fantastic. The iPhone 4 is no different and there are a few things about the phone that are brand spanking new and may get you thinking of investing in what has become one of the most fashionable mobile phones ever.
Apple keep up their reputation for utilising new technology by placing their touchscreen technology between two panels of engineered aluminosilicate glass. This glass is also used in the windscreens of both helicopters and high speed trains and is chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic. For those of you who care about the environment as well, this glass is 100% recyclable.
The phone also has a brand new antennae which is a first in terms of technology and design. The antennae is found on a steel band that goes all the way around the handset and the CNC-machined band is the mounting point for all the components of iPhone 4. The alloy used to make the band was created by Apple themselves and is, impressively, five times stronger than normal stainless steel despite staying extremely light. It is also able to be incorporated into what is the thinnest smart phone on the market.
The new display has also got people talking since the phones release. The phone has its own 960-by-640 backlit LCD display and can offer an incredible 326 pixels per inch, the highest pixel density of any phone screen on the market. Amazingly, the human eye cannot pick out an individual pixel on the display, something that has not been achieved on another phone. In January this year at the exhibition CES (Customer Electronic Show) in addition to all other gadgets, the public was shocked with robot dog named Wrex. Now this toy for adults and children, as was promised, is on sale.
So, Wrex is a robot dog that gives a paw, barks, can dance, play dead, wants to eat and goes to the toilet “as the real dog does”. Wrex can be happy, angry or mad.
This robot can be reprogrammed turning it into a cat or just a toy “without a certain kind”. Special sensors do not give the robot hits the obstacles, and it reacts to the movement. Wrex has 9 engines, 10 different “icons” in the eyes; there are speakers and 3 levels of volume.
The full name of the gadget is WowWee Wrex The Dawg. It costs about $200.

In January, this year, Garmin announced the upcoming withdrawal of its novelty – Nuvifone – mobile phone and GPS-navigator in a single device.
Massive sales of Nuvifone will begin in the third quarter of this year (if all goes well).

This phone is expected to be equipped with a 3.5-inch screen, 3.5G support, Wi-Fi, photo and video camera, MP3 player and MPEG4/AAC.Currently there is no data on the memory of this device and no possibility to install additional applications.
I think Nuvifone can be an excellent solution for those who do not like Apple, as it has some features and capabilities than iPhone has.

Robots help people in a large number of different situations. In difficult circumstances, where people fail with their job, robots easily cope with their tasks.

That’s a new Water Strider robot which performs its function perfectly; it is designed to move through the water surface. This robot is made in a form of a small insect that can easily move on the surface of the water in swamps and small lakes.

2

Water Strider can also measure the temperature of the water and still give some indications. It will be very useful, for example, when you need to monitor water quality in pools, reservoirs, drainage and similar places. Imagine how easy and cheap it would be if such a robot will replace all existing cumbersome equipment.

You can also use the robot and for other purposes, for example, to spy on something or someone with a small camera. Water Strider can become an ideal tool for espionage.
