HP is refreshing its HP Wireless TV Connect introduced in September last year. Basically, it is a similar technology then Intel WiDi except that it allows people who own computers that do not feature the WiDi chip (integrated to last generation Intel Core processors) to wirelessly stream HD multimedia content from their laptop to their TV display. It is also possible to stream 3D content from a PC to a 3D-enabled television.

The main innovation is the smaller size of the box and the sweeter price at launch time: $179.99 (vs. $199 when the first version was released).
The HP Wireless TV Connect wirelessly streams 1080p HD content such as photos, videos and blu-ray from any PC or notebook equipped with an HDMI port. According to the manufacturer, unlike other competing products, there is no lag in its solution.

Do you have a huge collection of music that you cannot wait to share with the rest of the world? Of course you can always force your friends to drop by your place and tie them up in some chair while letting them hear your favorite tunes, or you can always subtly draw them into your favorite tracks with a good set of speakers. Rock solid speakers, actually, and Audiomasons Design Works’ offerings are literally that – where the speakers are carved out of big blocks of Indiana limestone.

Speakers that are cut from a single piece of rock? Now this is something of a novelty to me, and it will certainly raise eyebrows whenever visitors drop by your home. After all, sweeping the underside of these speakers aren’t going to be an easy task, as I suspect they will be heavier than your average plastic-clad speakers, don’t you think so? There are three models for you to choose from, where each of these speakers will weigh around 40 pounds, and depending on where you look, they retail anywhere from $995 to $1,950 per pair. You can now literally rock around the clock thanks to Audiomasons Design Works!
Want to play the role of Mr Tough Guy? Well, you can’t really go wrong with the Yamaha PDX-11 portable speaker system, where this octaganol unit will be equipped with a decent 4″ woofer as well as accompanied by a 3/8″ tweeter. All of that circuitry will require the juice of half a dozen AA batteries, which in turn will enable you to enjoy up to 8 hours of non-stop audio.

Apart from that, you will notice that the Yamaha PDX-11 will also come with a 30-pin connection that is located at the base, where it will cater for your iPhone or iPod. If you do not own any device from Steve Jobs, that is not a problem either, since it will also be well equipped with another uber popular alternative – the 3.5mm jack located around back that will let it groove to other portable media players as well.
There is a metal carry handle and grill that ought to make sure it can survive just about the average outdoor experience in cities and ghettos, as you choose from blue, white, green or black shades. The Yamaha PDX-11 will retail for a Benjamin if you are interested.
Dyson, a company known for its futuristic home appliances, has announced launched a new product that fits right in with its repertoire. Called the Dyson Hot, it is a bladeless heater fan that heats up the room using the company’s Air Multiplier technology. All you have to do is set the desired temperature, and the Dyson Hot will keep pumping out warm air until the temperature is reached. And when you don’t need it to act as a heater, the Dyson Hot can be a regular cooling fan as well – however it all depends on the temperature you set and the temperature of the room.

In addition to being multi-purpose, the Dyson Hot touts safety features such as no exposed heating elements – you won’t be able to burn yourself on accident, and it automatically shuts off if it tips over. And as the case with Dyson’s products – it comes with a hefty price tag. The Dyson Hot can be yours for $399.99.

Check out this rather interesting design for a plug – we’re looking at the Fold Flat USB Mains Charger, a slimline foldout plug which makes traveling a whole lot lighter and more manageable – have you ever really tried to pack in the standard three-pin plug adapter, not to mention a few while you’re at it before taking a long holiday?
Currently available for pre-order at £12.99 a pop and shipping from March 16th onwards, this device was specially designed to fold to a thickness of 20mm, and is more than capable of slipping into any handbag or jacket pocket in a jiffy. Apart from that, folding the pins together make them less likely to damage any surrounding material. Thermostats are common enough and everybody has one. So how does a company go about reinventing a ubiquitous piece of hardware? For Honeywell it’s easy; develop a three part system that keeps your house temperature under control even when you’re on vacation.
Three part system? That’s the magic of Prestige, it’s a whole system with three units: one wall mounted thermostat, a wireless remote you can carry around, and an outdoor humidifier. The technology is impressive too. The wall mount has a touch display with impressive resolution for clarity. The wireless remote, on the other hand, keeps tab of temperatures all the time and allows the user to adjust these as they see fit from anywhere in the house. The outdoor humidifier’s job is straightforward compared with its siblings, simply feeding data to both.
The real genius of the Prestige system, however, is the vacation mode, where a simple input of time and dates makes sure the house is warmed up by the time you get back from wherever you came from.
This kind of quality comes at a price though. The prestige system is a $700 investment that requires professional installation in your hose, meaning you can’t go it alone, plug this to the wall and fudge the place you live in.
It seems that lights are just plain old boring anymore. Sure we get light and a small amount of warmth from them, but they don’t seem to do much more than that. With the need for everything to have multi-functionality, it seems only logical that we now combine light and sound.
The Audio Light Bulb is exactly as it is named. This light bulb fitted with 10-watt speakers can set a calming mood for your pad. This could also be a very effective way to relieve stress if your main form of coping with the world at large is music. Capable of receiving interference-free signals from as far as 50’ away from it’s transmitter. This transmitter can be docked with any iPod/iPhone with a 30-pin connector. It is a little pricey at $299.99, but for those of you that really like your music, this is an investment that is worth the while.
Now here’s a device that ought to be a gift to those who have family members that love singing in the shower, although they would never have made it past the audition stage of American Idol. We’re looking at the Water Powered Shower Radio, and as the name suggests, you need not burden your monthly power bill with this, and the other advantage would be to have its audio content drown out the voice of the one singing.
This is one radio that’s going to make waves in bathrooms across the country, and will ship only at the end of March for £34.95. Now, if only someone could figure out a similar principle and have vehicles run on water instead of gas.
Using the Water Powered Shower Radio is a snap, and installation does not require a rocket science degree. All you need to do is fit the radio in line with your shower hose, where water that flows through will power the H2O micro turbine that in turn drives a generator which produces energy.
Just in case you thought that Santa is nice enough to clean your chimney every year when he drops by to give your household presents, think again. The chimney and fireplace isn’t going to clean itself by magic, since you aren’t living in an enchanted castle. No sir, it takes backbreaking hard work to make sure all the dirt and soot are thoroughly cleaned after each use so that none of it will settle and soil the rest of your expensive furniture.
That’s what a vacuum cleaner is for, and the Fireplace HEPA Vacuum works differently from other typical fireplace vacuums where it won’t recirculate microscopic ash particles into the air, thanks to its HEPA filter that captures 99.97% of all airborne particulates as small as 1/3000 of a millimeter. The HEPA filter is located within the intake side of the motor, hence preventing fine, abrasive ash particles from damaging the vacuum or being exhausted into the air you breathe. Powered by an 800-watt motor that quickly suctions ashes via a 5′ fire-retardant aluminum hose into a 5 1/4-gallon fire-resistant steel tank, the Fireplace HEPA Vacuum sports an integrated handle where the lid will unclasp in a jiffy to enable easy emptying of ash. At $149.95 a pop, this is certainly worth looking into, since you might be spending more time around the fireplace during winter than summer.
