Once in a while, a device comes along that touts to handle all of a particular need.
Well, we have the TEAC Aurb this time around which not only plays nice with your iPhone and iPod (being a dock and all), it also doubles up as a CD player (just in case you have those Michael Jackson classics on a collection of CDs) and an FM radio, for moments when you’ve absolutely run out of downloaded tunes to listen to. At £249.99, the TEAC Aurb isn’t cheap, but let us gloss over what it has to offer before coming to a conclusion, right? Compatible with ALL iPod/iPhone models available, it boasts some pretty good audio quality, featuring a retractable iPod/iPhone dock, a top-mounted CD player and auxiliary/USB inputs for you to play back MP3 and WMA files from memory cards and CDs amongst others. It ain’t no shy flower, belting out 100 watts of power through its dual 32mm tweeters and 89mm woofers. Not only that, it looks absolutely gorgeous, so having it in any living room is a must this Christmas.
Bang & Olufsen has quietly updated their Beo5 remote control and listed the new Beo6 version on their site which is now equipped with wireless setup. The instructions related to the Beo6 unfortunately dont give to much away as regards new features of the control and it seems as though the older model and new are fairly similar.
The Beo6 is however fully compatible with Beo5 right down to using the exact same menus and controls, the documentation on the site indicates that the Beo6 can connect to your Wi-Fi network to enable 2-way control with other Bang & Olufsen devices supporting a 2-way communication.
However no setup instructions are listed for the Beo6 and the connections would most likely need to be carried out by a Bang & Olufsen retailer. More information on the Beo6 is available from the Bang & Olufsen Beo6 webpage.
If you always charge your iPhone or other portable gadgets overnight, you’ll eventually kill the battery of your device. And some more you’ll also waste some electricity as most chargers will keep drawing vampire power even though the device’s fully charged.
Here comes the VogDUO USB wall charger, which allows you to set the charging time limit for 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours. So, when the time’s up, the charger will stop consuming power. If you’re charging your phone everyday, charging for two hours should be able to get the device full. And you can be sure that no more electricity is wasted when the time is up.
Unfortunately, there is no pricing yet for the PS0517 Green Wall Charger. It claims to be compatible with iPad, iPhone, iPod and other USB-powered devices. It’s capable of charging up to 4 devices at one time and equipped with indicator lights.

Mini projectors haven’t really caught on ever since they were introduced to the masses some time ago, and we’re guessing that’s because there really isn’t a deep rooted need for one of these puppies.
Well, that doesn’t mean manufacturers will stop churning out such devices, otherwise we wouldn’t have the £229.99 Optoma GT100 Mini Projector to play around with. Capable of throwing an image of up to 75-inches in size, the Optoma GT100 will play nice with just about any video game console, set top box, DVD players, notebooks as well as other compatible devices onto any flat surface.
The brightness level needs some looking into though at just 50 lumens, which means your room will need to be pretty dark – otherwise your audience will be treated to washed otu colors. Apart from that, external speakers are a must if you’re watching a movie on this thing since the integrated 1.5w speaker isn’t going to add much ambience to the whole situation. Maxing out at WVGA resolution (854 x 480), you can forget about watching High Definition videos on this thing, although regular DVDs will do just fine. The lamp life of 30,000 hours ought to last you for quite a number of years, as we don’t forsee this being used regularly. Reasonable enough to be placed under the Christmas tree though.
The new WireX converter allows legacy equipment with embedded analog modems to be switched from connecting through the traditional phone line to connecting through a cellular GSM / GPRS wireless network.
It does not require any changes on the existing legacy device, the user only needs to disconnect the phone cable from the wall and plug it into the WireX dial-up connector.
“This unique product offers wireless carriers and OEMs a new opportunity for installing several thousands of solutions providing their end-users with a quick ROI: with 1 Mb of data per month, WireX can lower prices by more than 50% when replacing a dedicated phone line!” states Marc Berrebi, eDevice’s CEO.
In May of this year Kaleidescape unveiled a couple new media players for streaming flicks all around your home called the M500 and the M300. The company has announced a new device called the Modular Disc Vault that works with either the M500 or M300 to allow the importation of Blu-ray flicks that can be played back in any room of the home.
The Modular Disc Vault holds 100 Blu-ray discs and connects with a USB cable to the players. The user can have as many of the MDVs as they want on the home network, but each must be connected to a M300 or M500 player to work. The MDV imports digital copies of the Blu-ray films and stores them for instant playback and the user can watch any of the films they want without having to mess with a disc.
The system automates the entire importing process and has a front slot for the discs. The MDV sells for $1495 and can be purchased now. The user has to have the M300 or M500 to use the MDV as well. The M300 is $2495 and the M500 is $3995.
