Who are the homeless in the eyes of Americans? These are people who have no home, they wonder on streets and courtyards of cities in search of something that can be processed and exchange it for some money. These people benefit more than anyone in our planet – they contribute to environmental cleaning. But this is a different story; now let’s see what we have for them.

In general, the homeless – is a big social problem for the United States. And, apparently, in 2006 in order to draw public’s attention to this problem was held a competition called Designboom Social Awareness Award 2006, which would path a way for solving this problem.

Designers Barry Sheehan and Gregor Timlin represented an interesting project to participate in this competition.

Shelter Cart – is something like hybrid of a trolley, a basket and a bed. During the day the homeless can carry and collect bottles, metal or something else in it. If they want to relax, they can turn this trolley and sit down covering the top of the seat. But at night it can be open and they can sleep inside. This hybrid is made from environmentally-friendly materials.
