4G Smartphones, Modems And Hot Spots Arrive On The Expanded Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Network In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, May 19

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Starting Thursday, May 19, more Verizon Wireless customers across the Philadelphia metro area will be able to surf the web, download files and share music and photos up to 10 times faster than before with Verizon Wireless’ 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. Coverage

In real-world, fully-loaded network environments, 4G LTE users should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink, so customers can enjoy the fast speeds of the world’s first large-scale 4G LTE network. Verizon Wireless began introducing the globe’s first large-scale LTE network on December 5, 2010, covering more than 110 million Americans, and is quickly expanding national coverage. In addition to expanding five new markets, the company is adding nine new markets this week, for a total of 55 metropolitan areas covered. The company is rapidly building out its 4G LTE network, and is on course to deliver 4G LTE to its entire 3G wireless footprint by the end of 2013. In addition, the company is working with rural communications companies to collaboratively build and operate a 4G network in those areas using the tower and backhaul assets of the rural company and Verizon Wireless’ core 4G LTE equipment and premium 700 MHz spectrum.

When customers travel outside of a 4G coverage area, the devices automatically connect to Verizon Wireless’ 3G network, enabling customers to stay connected from coast to coast. Verizon Wireless’ 3G network is the most reliable high-speed wireless data network in the country, allowing customers with laptops and smartphones to download and use cool apps, from mobile social networking platforms to GPS-enabled maps, rapidly browse the web to keep up with news, sports, stock quotes, Hollywood gossip and more, work on-the-go with fast file sharing and stream must-see video and customized radio stations.

The HTC Arrive looks good, and looks strong. Rimmed with shiny, dark-gray paint, the handset has a glossy appearance and feel. It has barely rounded corners, like the iPhone 4, and two cutouts that reveal the front-facing speakers. On the back, a swath of brushed stainless steel and a decorative screw reveal that this is not a phone to be trifled with. And if there were any doubt, the phone’s dimensions (4.6 inches tall, 2.3 inches wide, 0.6 inch thick) and weight (a whopping 6.4 ounces, nearly half a pound)–attest that the Arrive is one brick of a phone. Its bulk makes it a bit less comfortable to slip into a pocket, but you won’t have to worry much if you drop it. We noticed, however, that the gray paint that rings the face easily flaked off in our bags and under our nail.

The HTC Arrive is Sprint’s first Windows Phone 7 phone, and the first to ship with copy and paste installed.

At 3.6 inches, the WVGA capacitive touch screen is slightly smaller than that of the HTC Surround, but has the same 800×480-pixel resolution. While it’s a fine screen that shows off bright colors and sharp edges, it doesn’t have the richness or pop of the Super AMOLED display on the Samsung Focus.

Below the screen are three touch-sensitive buttons for Back, Home, and Bing search. A camera trigger button is on the right spine, and the Micro-USB charger and a large volume rocker are on the left. Up top there’s a standard 3.5-millimeter headset jack and the power button. The Arrive’s back houses a 5-megapixel camera and a flash. As with all Windows 7 phones, there’s no card slot for expanding the phone’s memory, but the 16GB built-in storage should be enough for most casual users’ needs.

More than anything else, what makes the HTC Arrive stand out is its tilting screen. HTC is no stranger to this design; it brought us the AT&T Tilt and HTC Tilt 2, much ballyhooed back in 2007 and 2009, respectively. Those two handsets ran Microsoft’s earlier Windows mobile operating systems.

The once-thought delayed HTC Trophy for Verizon may still be coming based on a leak reportedly pulled from Verizon’s site. Microsoft staff are now being given a new promotion building on the old one. Those who bought a Trophy would receive at least a $100 credit per line, Phone Arena was shown; those who bought it before April 1 would have the entire price reimbursed by Microsoft.

The bundle would also give a leather case and a power charger to any new phone adopter.

Some rumors had suggested the phone wouldn’t arrive until June, although it’s not clear the date had been moved up. The April cutoff regardless points to a major step closer to launch that month and that there wouldn’t be long to wait.

The Trophy on Verizon would be fundamentally the same as the GSM version but would add dual-mode CDMA/GSM support and the NoDo update giving copy-and-paste text support out of the box. A 3.8-inch screen, a 1GHz Snapdragon and a five-megapixel camera will carry forward.

The HTC Wildfire is really a Desire Lite or as some may well say, it’s a slimmed down version of the Desire handset. The handset is getting on a bit now to say the least, like the Desire is as well and the depressing thing is, there won’t be any updates to the Wildfire device where as the HTC desire has seen many an upgrade together with the likes of the HTC desire Z and the HTC desire HD, but with the Wildfire being somewhat a budget phone we probably won’t be seeing a Wildfire HD or a Wildfire Z, as it just won’t be worth putting all of these hi-Tec pieces in a handset which had been intended to certainly be a inexpensive phone.
This handset may be budget, but it is definitely up-to-date, operating the popular Android 2.1 and with HTC’s Sense software packages installed, you are able to safely assume that it has all the mod cons to be a top mobile, only one thing, yes something lets it down. That thing would be the low quality display; you can confidently claim that it really does the device zero favours whatsoever with the pixelated resolution.
Most of you will question the making of a cheap handset and also question the reason why HTC would release one, well the main reason they did is the fact they are running low on inexpensive devices and to keep the customers happy, well as the saying goes, “you’ve gotta do, what you’ve gotta do.” So, customer’s happy, check. Budget phone, check. Well what is there to do now? HTC most likely had, had enough of low cost devices after launching the Wildfire so they made a decision to immediately supersede their own flagship device with a couple of new models of it, the desire HD and Desire Z.
The good thing about the Wildfire is that it doesn’t have a challenging operating system and it really is very easy and simple to work with so if its ease of use that you’re after then this may possibly be a affordable device for yourself.
If you do quite like the sound of this handset then why not have a very good search around the marketplace to see what HTC Wildfire deals are available for you and see what you can not only pay for but what is perfect for you, as you don’t want to be spending loads and loads on it!

Orange, one of the largest European mobile operators, announced the HTC Touch HD, which should appear in the UK in November.
Of course, the rumors about this were around for a long time, but finally confirmed the information. So the British will have to choose between the G1, exclusively represented by T-Mobile and Touch HD with exclusive support from Orange.

3
Orange will release the model for £80, subject to the signing of 18-month contract with a monthly payment of 40 pounds. Also, each month the subscriber’s account will be billed to 250MB of wireless traffic, which is really useful, because Touch HD is a real monster in terms of communications.
After some time of the appearance in the UK, HTC Touch HD will be available for subscribers of Orange, living in France and in Romania.
