Sure, the iPhone and iPad have microphones, and there are other iPhone accessories and iPad accessories like mini-microphones out there for the devices, but what about a full-sized mic? IK Multimedia thinks there’s a need for one, offering up the iRig Mic as a solution.
The unidirectional condensor mic is designed for singers and vocalists, but can also be used to record speeches, instruments. It also comes with three official apps: VocaLive, which provides realtime vocal effects and processing, AmpliTube, which enhances instrumental recordings with effects and levels, and iRig Recorder, which . The mic uses the 3.5mm jack on the iPad/iPhone and has a second jack built in so you can plug in headphones for monitoring audio levels.
That’s great and all, but what it really needs is an epic Karaoke app for the iPad. The iRig is available for preorder now and will cost $60 when it comes out.
I first encountered the Mikey at CES 2009, and the first version was a handy microphone made to plug into the charging port end of an iPod.
They have since come out with the Mikey 2.0, which is made for the iPhone and iPod Touch. I happen to have the latter, and I found that Mikey 2.0 works as well as the original.
For those who are not aware, the iPod Touch comes with a voice recorder, but an external mic is required for earlier generations of it. Unfortunately, the Voice recording app is pretty poor and records in mono. Fortunately, Blue Microphones has a free App known as Blue FiRe, which can record audio in CD quality, and is very easy to use.
For some reason, Mikey 2.0 is more curvaceous and less angular than its predecessor, and it can bend in 7 angle adjustments “for any environment”. I’m not sure how many angles the first version could do, but the 3 gain settings have been effectively passed on to version 2.0.
All in all, Mikey 2.0 is a very advanced external microphone, and if you are looking for something to record lectures, concerts, voice memos, interviews, or audio journaling, you should get it. It is available on Amazon for an affordable price of $73.39.
Yesterday I wrote about the new mouse, and in continuation of the subject it would be good to mention something related to them. And what could be closer to the mouse than the rug? And this new rug is the subject of our new discussion. Naturally, this is not an ordinary cork “litter”, even a functional gadget, and with very unusual abilities.

One can argue about the need of such a “tuning” of a usual mat, but the gadget, however, deserves attention.
So, in the market appeared a rug with an integrated USB hub, speakers and microphone. It is fully compatible with USB 1.1 and 2.0, equipped with 4-port USB, stereo speakers and microphone.

Karaoke has long been one of the most popular items in the organization of parties. But manufacturers of gadgets do not stop to improve this device. So welcome this new gadget: Karaoke Groove Station.

At first sight it’s a standard microphone with a few buttons. But in fact it’s a music center with 4 standard AA batteries.
When playing music you can change pace and high tones, if you cannot reproduce the original voice. In the case when the song originally performed the voice of the opposite sex, you use the “sex change” button. No, it will not change your gender; it will only adjust the music for you. For those who have a desire to hear how their voices would sound from a big stage, there is a button “Spatial Effect”.
“Harmony” button will effect a three-voiced presentation, and “Doubling” will allow you to sing a duet with yourself.
It looks like an excellent gadget for entertainment. But there are a couple of drawbacks. The music and lyrics of the karaoke are recorded on special cartridges and there you can find only English-language songs.
The price of this gadget is $100.

Probably every family is used to leave notes at home. For example, when a child goes somewhere, he/she writes that he/she will be at home by 7. Now, you can easily send SMS, and write everything that you need. But you can do it in a different way. This interesting novelty from AudioVox, which was announced recently, is designed only for this kind of notes.
First of all, it is a display, on which you can write something and erase, but in addition it is also a photo frame. But this is not the most interesting feature of the gadget. Two versions of this gadget are expected – with the possibility to record video ($200) and without this function ($160).
