Once the floppy drive was a fairly expensive device, and for storing various programs and games for home computers, such as, for example, ZX Spectrum, we had to use conventional tape cassettes. At the same tape was recorded approximately 1-2 MB of data. Today it is, of course, nothing, but for computers with 48 KB of RAM it is quite a decent amount.

People, who have not forgotten those days, will be pleased to hear about Mixa Tape gadget. It is a usual compact cassette, but a fairly easy motion for the emergence of USB-connector, is thus turned into Mixa Tape USB-drive. Built-in memory of this device is only 1 GB, but can you record 250 music tracks on the usual tape?
The price of this gadget is about $40.
The long-awaited ASUS Eee Keyboard opens new secrets. Recently, one of the keyboards appeared in the hands of French researchers from BlogEEE site. They didn’t miss the opportunity to shoot the full video demonstration of the gadget, as well as to disassemble the novelty and study how it has been built.

Disassembling of ASUS Eee Keyboard turned out to be very easy, but it does not mean that in future it will be possible to upgrade the new gadget. If there is left some place for the SSD disk (which suggests several options for the supply), it is impossible to increase the memory. The RAM is directly connected to the motherboard. So 1 GB DDR2 with a frequency of 800MHz, this is all that ASUS Eee Keyboard can offer.
It should be noted that the chips which allow to play HD video with the quality up to 1080p and 8-channel sound, as well as the Wi-Fi module. The battery with a capacity of 1880mAh will allow the gadget to work about an hour and a half.

Every day we write about the latest gadgets in the world, but today we would like to draw your attention not on a gadget. We have all heard that often the cost of the gadget does not exceed the value of its production, as the main revenue producers receive the related fee-based services (the sale of music, programs, books, subscriptions, etc.). And to complete the background we have only to recall the system of additional contract mobile operators that allow buying a new phone model for peanuts.
The operator Vodafone UK has announced that will spread netbooks Samsung NC10 with built-in 3G modem in the country. We’d like to point out its main characteristics:
- Diagonal LCD screen 10.2 inches
- Screen resolution 1024×600 points
- Processor Intel Atom
- RAM 1 GB
- Hard Drive 160 GB
So, the operator gives a laptop to its subscribers for free. But for it you have to sign a contract for 25 pounds per month (1GB traffic) or 30 pounds per month (3GB) for 24 months.
If you have a full 3G coverage this is an excellent variant. Let’s hope that this method of propagation of netbooks will be taken by other operators in other countries. I would be happy to have such a contract, and what about you?
Our collection of readers will not be complete without mentioning Jointech JE100. The first news about its development appeared in June, but only we know its parameters and price.

The reader with a 7-inch touch screen is not using the technology of electronic paper. Its screen is an LCD panel. Lights may be useful for reading in the dark, but in bright sun there will be problems with the image. The obvious advantage is that the screen has an opportunity to play video.
The second feature is the operating system. The gadget is running the English version of Windows CE 5.0. This means that it supports formats MS Office, MS Excel, MS Power Point, PDF. Nevertheless, a processor with a frequency of 400 MHz, 64 MB RAM and 128 megs of NAND flash memory in combination with Windows does not inspire much confidence.
The price of this gadget is $270.

Perhaps some of our readers still remember the interesting computer Fit-PC. We would like to inform them: a new version with a predictable name Fit-PC2 has been released. At this time it is based on Intel Atom.
Fit-PC2 is a miniature computer, that has 10,2 X11, 4×2, 7 cm size. You can keep it in your pocket. But despite such a modest size, it is a full computer with a processor Intel Atom 1,1 GHz or 1,6, gigabytes of RAM and a SATA 2.5-inch disk format.
The new model has an integrated 802.11g Wifi, Ethernet and HDMI output. By default, the model work with Ubuntu Linux, or with Windows XP (to your choice).
Prices for this kind of system units start from $ 245 for the base model without a hard drive. But at a price of $ 299 for the version of Linux, and 160 gigabytes of hard disk space, it is unlikely that you will want to take the base model. The same version of Windows XP will cost more – $ 396.
